About the Climate Bonds Initiative

Climate Bonds Initiative is an investor-focused NGO working to mobilise the $100 trillion global bond market for climate change solutions. We promote investment in projects and assets necessary for a rapid transition to a low carbon and climate resilient economy.

Our main work streams are green bond standards and certification, data and market analysis, policy and market development, communications and advocacy.

Climate Bonds is a fast growing, dynamic NGO driven by a big mission. You will be working within an organisation that is leading the development of innovative international climate finance solutions.

The Role

The Climate Bonds Initiative is launching a 3-year programme aimed at accelerating the transition of agriculture and food (agri-food) systems toward net-zero, resilient, and sustainable systems. This Agri-Food Transitions Programme is a key pillar of CBI’s flagship Transitions Programme. The overarching goal of the Transitions Programme is to mobilise global capital for financing the transition of key sectors of the economy to align with a net-zero, resilient, and sustainable future.

At the core of our strategy for catalysing agri-food system transitions is the following premise: Green fiscal, trade, and financial policies, as well as structural reform measures used successfully to spur green transitions in other markets, such as energy, can be deployed in food markets to arrive at more sustainable production and healthier diets and reap the ensuing economic, social, and planetary gains.

CBI is looking for a motivated and highly qualified expert in agri-food decarbonisation processes and policies to lead this exciting new global program with a focus on the EU, Brazil, and China.

Team Mission

  • Management of internal and external stakeholders and cross functional workstreams from funding through to end-to-end execution with adherence to governance guidelines as outlined by Senior Management, with timely and effective escalation and reporting.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Coordinating and driving forward the global programme on agri-food transitions in CBI,
  • In alignment with other teams, providing an expert voice within and outside CBI on developing context-specific resilient decarbonisation pathways for agri-food systems
  • Working closely with the programme director and transitions manager to ensure the agri-food system programme is strategically aligned with the wider transitions programme and adding value to the overall goals of CBI
  • Providing leadership for agri-food transitions, and overseeing regional (Brazil, China, EU and US) agri-food policy leads to ensure strategic alignment across the programme
  • Deliver transition projects to time, budget and quality parameters as defined by funder/s and senior management.
