Position: Test and Development Engineer, Automotive Reports to: Senior Test and Development Engineer Location: London/flexible – the job holder will support programmes in Scotland, England and Europe as well as other international opportunities Job Description As part of Arcola Energy’s product development engineering team, you will primarily be working on the development and execution of design validation plans for fuel cell system applications. The purpose of the role is to ensure that the reliability and optimised performance of the product meet the design intent. Primary responsibilities: • Development of design verification plan and report (DVP&R) • Analysis of interactions between components, including calculations to show the system’s predicted overall performance in various loading and environmental conditions • Advise design engineers to ensure the final integrated system meets its objectives • Advise design engineers on designing for service and maintenance • Supporting homologation activities to ensure product compliance • Execute in-house test plans and contribute to the ongoing development of Arcola Energy’s internal testing capability • Execute test plans with external testing houses as required • Interpretation of data and translation into system improvement and optimisation • Reporting on test outcomes and data-driven design changes, ensuring knowledge transfer through to further projects through good data reporting Experience and competencies: • Systems engineering approach applied to automotive product development • Development of DVPs and execution of test plans • Development of/contribution to DFMEAs • Familiarity with automotive regulations and experience demonstrating compliance for approval • Hands-on experience setting up tests and operating test equipment/instrumentation • Vehicle-level testing (static, track and on-road) What you’ll receive in return: • Competitive salary, based on experience • Support towards CEng accreditation and your membership fees paid for IET/MechE • Flexible work arrangements – we are currently working from home • An opportunity to directly impact projects – from concept through to production • Free tickets to the Arcola Theatre (subject to availability), and Arcola staff discount on food and drink in café/bar About Arcola: Arcola Energy is a privately owned company and offers us on what we believe in a truly independent view of one of the fastest growing industries that will lead the road to zero emissions.
