Description

We are changing things. We are So Energy, a fast-growing 100% renewable energy supplier in the UK. We’re the leading energy supplier for customer service. We’ve won a host of awards too; including The Sunday Times Fast Track 100. Now we’re looking for people to join our growing team and support our customer base which has tripled in the last 7 months.

The Role

In this role you will be working closely with the Customer Operations team to provide practical work-arounds and new features in our customer relationship systems including Junifer (industry specific CRM), Freshdesk and Amazon Connect. You’ll liaise with the rest of the software engineering team to apply development best practices, ensuring mid and long-term solutions are factored into the rest of the ecosystem.

Modernisation of legacy scripts, mechanisms applications and services, bringing them in line with our existing Microservice strategy. Assist in the development of scalable and reliable systems based on microservice architecture (using Kotlin, Kubernetes and Google Cloud).

Actively proposing new ideas about how to solve specific problems or improve the systems we currently have.

Taking ownership of these systems, proactively looking for improvements and proposing new implementation approaches.

As part of the engineering team you will also get a chance to work on a whole range of other exciting projects alongside highly skilled developers that will push your technical abilities.

Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable working alone as well as part of a multidisciplinary team formed of Backend, Frontend & QA engineers.
  • Experience writing and maintaining applications ideally in Java or Python.
  • Strong experience in SQL
  • Good understanding of algorithms and data structures
  • Able to come up with pragmatic work-around solutions to address immediate problems
  • Experience or desire to modernise & optimise existing mechanisms, integrations and components
  • Experience or desire to work in a fast pace environment with a growing number of cross functional engineering teams
  • GIT versioning
