We’re looking for an outstanding Head of Corporate New Business – this is a critical role to drive the growth of our salary sacrifice schemes with our larger corporate customers (roughly speaking 300+ employee size organisations). You will be responsible for managing our team of Business Development Managers, building relationships with new customers, sharing the benefits of our schemes and ultimately signing up new organisations to join us.
Your team will be the face of Octopus Electric Vehicles, advising and supporting customers throughout their journey towards setting up a salary sacrifice scheme.
We are looking for people with strong sales team management experience who have led teams selling into large corporate clients. Strong people leadership skill and performance management skills are essential.

This role will include a generous car allowance as part of the overall package and will be based in our brand new office Weybridge three days a week.

What you’ll do

    • Build a high performing corporate business development function focused on selling salary sacrifice schemes to customers with c.300 or more employees
    • Establish a performance culture – creating the reports, CRM utilisation, daily routines you need to manage the team, coach the team to ensure success within the OEV culture
    • Build an onboarding plan to recruit and retain an outstanding team
    • Work out the best routes to markets and ways of segmenting and allocating opportunities within the team
    • Implement a sales methodology / commonality of how we sell
    • Develop and establish a corporate sales pipeline with your team – from lead through to delivery, meeting (and hopefully exceeding) targets set
    • Lead and be personally be involved in the big opportunities
    • Forecast performance for the next period and deliver improvement plans where necessary
    • Work with the marketing team to agree a marketing plan to generate the leads you need to be successful
    • Input and support the growth of the SME sales function and the employee engagement function
    • Collaborate with the wider teams to iterate and grow our proposition and processes

What you’ll need

    • Demonstrable track record of success leading corporate sales teams selling in a consultative environment
    • Be an inspiring people leader with strong performance management experience
    • Be able to demonstrate abilities to manage the entire sales cycle and close deals
    • A restless curiosity to improve and make things better
    • Strong analytical skills and capacity to challenge other departments and your own team with well rounded arguments and data
    • A ruthless focus on the customer with a genuine passion for going above and beyond for customers
    • Be ready to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in
    • Strong communication skills, and an ability to explain complex topics clearly and simply
    • Resilience – building a business, bringing on customers and leading a team isn’t always easy!
    • Experience of scaling a sales team would be great
    • A start up / entrepreneurial mind-set with an ability to adjust to change and keep up with a fast moving business
    • Knowledge of employee benefits and/or car leasing would be a big benefit
