Mimica is looking for a student to join our team to help us share our story with our existing loyal supporters and to build awareness of our mission to radically reduce food waste.

About us

At Mimica, we’ve created a label and other types of packaging that show the true freshness of food, according to the temperature conditions, as an alternative to overcautious fixed expiry dates that drive so much good food to be wasted. We are preparing to launch our first product, a bottle cap for juices, in the market. We’re looking for someone to join our team remotely to help us build momentum for our launch by creating and sharing content that is engaging, thought provoking and inspires discussion. You will be creating content that is cohesive with Mimica’s brand guidelines and tone of voice. We are currently a team of 10 diverse people and you would work directly with the founder of the company, as well as others in the team.

We’re looking for somebody creative, passionate about sustainability, making a difference to food waste and food security and who wants to take on responsibility – critical when working in a small team.

To be eligible for the Kickstart scheme you must be 16-24 year olds on Universal Credit.

Skills & experience. You should:

  • Already be active on social media platforms with signs of a strong following

  • Be aware of strategies that maximise engagement and sharing

  • Have an eye for aesthetics and design enabling you to create content independently

  • Approach writing in an imaginative way

  • Any knowledge of social media analytics would be a bonus, but not mandatory

Some of your activities may include:

  • Creative brainstorming of content ideas that will help tell the Mimica story

  • Researching for and planning content that is relevant for our followers across our 4 social media channels

  • Creating visual content to accompany text using or the Adobe suite.

  • Trimming our video content into shareable soundbites and adding subtitles

  • Scheduling posts using Buffer

  • Tracking analytics to inform how to make better performing content in future

  • Engaging with our followers and responding to comments and questions

  • Posting updates on the Mimica website

  • Keeping our press pack for journalists up to date

  • Assisting with writing content for our newsletters for potential customers and investors

Work hours

This role will be part time at 25 hours per week. We suggest 5 hours, 5 days a week, but this is flexible and we’re happy to work around your schedule.

This role will be paid at the National Minimum Wage, kindly supported by the government Kickstart scheme. You will also have access to free events and training courses through our various memberships.

We’re based in Shoreditch, London, a short walk away from Old Street & Liverpool Street stations. The majority of your internship will be remote, with the aim of meeting in the office every few weeks.

If we’ve made your brain itch, please get in touch and send your CV and a bit about your interest in the position to
