Key tasks & accountabilities of the role include:

People & Development

  • Manage labour to agreed budgeted levels
  • Actively demonstrate leadership to team in all aspects of Food Safety and Quality Requirements
  • Ensure that training and development plans are put in place and that they are actively reviewed to ensure completion and validation
  • Carry out a formal performance review with your direct reports every 6 months as per the company guidelines
  • Create a team environment which allows a continuous improvement culture to develop
  • Ensure that your team have a clear understanding of their roles and accountabilities
  • Manage and lead organisational change
  • Use different leadership and behavioural styles to empower, involve and engage teams
  • Use learning & development to sustain & increase performance
  • Carry out fair and impartial investigations (disciplinary, safety)
  • Monitor & communicate changes in company policies and procedures
  • Work closely with HR to recruit new team members
  • Develop team via regular coaching and mentoring, training and leadership by example
  • Review core training / competency requirements against agreed training plans / frameworks
  • In conjunction with HR/Training, implement an annual training strategy mapped against business priorities
  • Review & audit training documentation (matrices and plans)
  • Review absence targets and take appropriate action
  • Plan effective use of labour/skills requirements across the site in line with planning priorities
  • Review and audit training shift administration routines associated with banked hours/floating holidays/sickness
  • Contribute to team meetings
  • Give advice and support to team members
  • Work closely with other relationship holders, senior managers and knowledge managers

  • Purpose driven and aspire to do good to people and the planet
  • Proven experience as an L&D Manager, Training Manager, OD manger or similar
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and people management skills, as well as ability to manage multiple, complex initiatives
  • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices.
  • Intellectual curious and keep up with the latest theories and frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and think creatively; challenges the status quo
  • Confident in both written and spoken communication with the ability to present to large audiences
  • Organisational skills
  • Proven people management skills and being degree, CIPD or CTP qualified (or equivalent) are essential.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • A full UK driving licence with access to own transport


  • Previously working in multinational FMCG industry
  • BSc/BA in Business, Psychology or a related field
  • Budget management
  • Professional certification (e.g. CPLP) is an advantage
  • Line manager experience
  • Overseas experience
