Specifically, we are looking to recruit a commercially and technically astute procurement professional with experience in the battery storage market to support the growth of the Network & Infrastructure businesses. The candidate will bring a good understanding of procurement best practices, HV equipment, and battery storage supply chain, have a proven experience of working with relevant contractors and suppliers, and have the capability and credibility to run procurement for large-scale energy storage projects. Working with the Directors and other members of the Network & Infrastructure team, the candidate
will be able to manage the day-to-day aspects of the procurement process from developing supply chain and contractor relationships to contract closure. The role integrates with team members in business development, legal, engineering, and construction to secure complex, high-value solutions, and negotiate contracts. The role includes liaising with contractors and external stakeholders such as technical advisors and lawyers. A key part of this role will be developing strong relationships with key battery and inverter suppliers, integrators, and balance of plant contractors and framework agreements with strategic partners. The candidate will shape the procurement strategy and its delivery. It will be a requirement to hit the ground running and to be comfortable operating at a rapid pace at times with levels of ambiguity and the pressure of deadlines.


  • Leading procurement of transmission and distribution level large scale energy storage projects in the UK and internationally
  • Raising Zenobe’s profile amongst the BOP and BESS community and increasing understanding of our strategy and build programme in the UK
  • Developing strategic partnerships with key battery, inverter, HV equipment OEMS, integrators, and BOP contractors
  • Leading the process of supplier quality and safety compliance control and evaluation
  • Writing, issuing, and managing Zenobe’s RFI and RFP processes
  • Selecting vendors, establishing payment terms, strategic vetting, selection, the negotiation of contracts, and actual purchasing of goods and services for large scale battery storage projects
  • Supporting Business Development with CAPEX and OPEX assumption
  • Working closely with internal and third-party engineers on the technical specifications and optimising civils and electrical design and cost
  • Standardise scopes of supply, including shipping and transportation requirements
  • Managing credit supplier analysis
  • Running an effective Supplier Relationship Management strategy, especially around the development of new services and intellectual property
  • Supporting compliance procedures in implementing ethical supply-chain initiatives
  • Cooperate closely with project managers, construction team, HSE team, and project administration
  • Managing the supplier claim management process with the engineering and legal teams
  • Building and managing a procurement team

Essential competencies:

  • High-quality education (bachelor’s degree or masters) preferably in engineering
  • A genuine passion for clean energy and our social and environmental mission
  • Solid work experience (7-10 years) in procurement in the energy sector (B2B) preferably in the energy storage or renewables sectors
  • Well versed in FIDIC and NEC contracts as well as incoterms is required
  • Implementing and maintaining frameworks with key suppliers
  • Strong commercial skills – comfortable with legal contracts
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting contract summaries and supply chain analysis
  • Strong organisation skills, team player, and good attention to detail
  • Relationship with key OEMs, integrators, and contractors in the UK and globally
  • Strong leadership skills with a growth mindset
