We are looking for a passionate and talented Product Manager to own the Data vision, strategy and roadmap to get more value out of the data we collect for our customers by optimising their energy strategies using the flexibility of their assets and processes and creating insights around it.

You will be joining our international Product team, responsible to drive product development from its conception all the way to its launch. As Product Manager Data, you will be working together with the Data team composed of a combination of Data Scientists and Data Engineers. The role is about owning the data vision, strategy and roadmap of Sympower. To start with, the focus of this role will be to optimise the bidding strategy for the balancing markets we operate in to help our customers lower their energy bills. Next to that, you will be gathering, mapping and prioritising other data needs and enabling the rest of the organisation to achieve their goals by shaping up a future-proof data infrastructure.

What you’ll do

  • Owning the Data vision, strategy, KPIs and roadmap to deliver data driven products to our customers
  • Being responsible for setting clear goals together with the data team and define a roadmap with the relevant stakeholders
  • Translate requirements of large data initiatives into smaller, actionable pieces that can be delivered in increments by the Data team
  • Taking responsibility for the delivery and performance of the Data team
  • Being the bridge between Business and Engineering teams to ensure a smooth product development based on a common understanding of why and what we’re building. You’re able to explain choices made from a customer value perspective to the Data team. You give frequent updates to the Business teams during development to ensure that what is being built fits the user needs
  • Champion data literacy within Sympower, train and educate the rest of the company about data to share common knowledge (what data can do for your day-to-day work, its benefits, how to use data driven products) and be able to have meaningful conversation about data
  • Working together with the rest of the Product team to challenge and improve the product vision and strategy and share ideas to improve our product development processes


  • 3+ years of Product Management experience, preferably in a scale up or fast paced environment
  • Strong background and relevant experience with data product delivery (e.g data modelling, automated forecasting tools, optimisation strategy) and end-to-end (Business Intelligence) data processes (from source, ETL, to visualisation)
  • Experience with programming or query languages like Python, SQL, R
  • Proven experience in owning a Data vision, strategy and roadmap
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Naturally curious and enjoy identifying and delivering solutions to complex problems, by using technology
  • Excellent communication skills, you “keep it simple” and make complicated details and problems understandable to a non technical audience
  • Strong business affinity, which combined with your strong technical background and communication skills, make you a great bridge between the commercial team, external stakeholders and the data team
  • Self starter, comfortable with ambiguity
  • Hands-on, pragmatic and creative to be able to launch fast and iterate
  • Experience in the Energy Sector is a big plus
