We are looking for a talented Senior Product Manager to manage the delivery of our Payments and Collections initiatives. You will report into the Director of Product for OVO Shared Services with sponsorship and direction provided by the Director of Data Enablement and Payments Strategy alongside our Data and Collections Directors and Heads.

The role will drive the delivery of our collections and payments initiatives.  This spans multiple, complex short to medium term deliveries across new payments processes, new data science led collections techniques and integrating and commercialising a new collections management system.  Working with senior stakeholders across the business, your mission is to help define and build out an integrated payments and collections delivery roadmap, enhancing our capabilities to manage bad debt and simplify our customers’ payment experience.  This role is responsible for the delivery of the roadmap, and is empowered to drive decision making and delivery momentum.

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

This role sits within Shared Services, which is responsible for driving the engine of our retail business. We provide the platforms and capabilities for our brands (OVO, SSE and Boost) to serve customers; from agent tooling to payments systems. You will be the lead for the Payments and Collections platforms, focused on the tools and services that help our collections teams manage debt and enable our customers to make payments.

What will I be doing?

  • Payments and collections strategy
    • working with senior management and stakeholders to define the payments and collections roadmap and deliver on effective strategies
    • aligning with Orion teams to develop and integrate the retail strategy
  • Build the next generation of analytics enabled collections models
    • delivering the new collections platform
    • providing requirements and guidance to specialised data science colleagues to build models that optimise credit strategies, customer treatments and contact strategies
    • liaising between data science and collections SMEs to ensure business outcomes are achieved
  • Delivering innovative payments capabilities
    • Work alongside business stakeholders and Orion teams to make the payment process as simple as possible for our customers
  • Working with 3rd parties
    • defining, sourcing and structuring agreements with 3rd parties (e.g., fintechs, payment providers, data providers etc.) that deliver our underlying capabilities;
    • ensuring product and technical choices support the delivery of OVO’s business goals
  • Team
    • hiring product managers as needed as the programme scales;
    • defining OKRs & KPIs for cross-functional teams that support company priorities and allow teams to own their areas;
    • coaching your team to help them in their personal development;
    • sharing & encouraging best practice product development;
    • enable a customer-centric, lean product development culture;
    • facilitating and improving cross-group collaboration;
  • Delivery
    • accountable for the key KPIs across your products and ensuring their visibility across your key stakeholders;
    • helping your teams make difficult product & prioritisation decisions & developing their roadmaps with them;
    • Get stuck into the day-to-day; working with exceptionally talented engineers to build and maintain vital services

What we’re looking for?

  • You are an accomplished product person with a proven history of delivery; as well as driving commercial & strategic focus;
  • You are able to demonstrate the ability to provide clarity in a complex and changing environment;
  • You’re passionate about working in a dynamic environment and thrive off responding quickly to changing information;
  • You are an inspiring line manager and coach – passionate about developing others and supporting your team;
  • You’re able to grasp new concepts quickly, and show the tenacity to keep asking until clarity is achieved;
  • A team player who encourages and facilitates collaboration within your team and across the OVO Group;
  • Ideally you have experience of knowledge of operational environments, and the tools and platforms that enable them, and are able to demonstrate an understanding of the challenges these areas present; but more importantly you have to be willing to learn
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills – able to cut through opinions with data;
  • A strong relationship builder with the ability to empathise and collaborate across the business;
  • You’re not precious. You roll your sleeves up and get stuck in.
  • Payments, collections and data science expertise is a nice to have
