Smart meters are here. These are energy industry game changers, and we’re buzzing about their potential. The technology will save UK consumers a lot of time (no more meter readings!) and with innovative electricity tariffs likeAgile Octopus and Octopus Go making the most of the smart meter tech, potentially a fair bit of dough too.
Octopus Energy Services (a brand new sister company of Octopus Energy) is looking for engineers to install these meters. Octopus Energy has quickly established a reputation for service excellence, mainly through fast and friendly online operations – achieving a 5-star Trustpilot rating and a Which? Recommended energy supplier award for the last 2 years in a row. In fact with Affect Energy and M&S Energy (both Octopus Energy sub brands) 3 of the top 5 positions on Trustpilot for energy supply are taken up with Octopus brands. So we need installers who can not only live up to this standard, but also turn it up a notch.
You’ll be representing our brands in our customers’ homes – so this is a super-important role for us – in many cases you’ll be the first face to face contact a customer may have had with us – so our expectations are high. You’ll be just as happy talking to the customer about the installation as you are about doing the installation itself. You’ll be fitting meters; showing customers how their meter and in home display works; providing energy efficiency advice and answering any questions they may have.

Is it you we’re looking for?
If so do you have:-
- Safety at the forefront of everything you do
- Excellent people skills and a dynamic approach to smart metering
- Previous experience in Domestic dual fuel metering.
- Gas Safe – CCN1/MET1 or CMA1/MET1 (or equivalent); MOCoPA – at least 1ph WC
- A full UK driving licence.
- The ability to use a handheld terminal.
- A flexible working approach and a desire to create a positive customer experience
This is what we can offer…
As a reward for providing a safe positive customer experience during installation, we will pay a competitive package which equates to c£40k p/a based on OTE. This comprises of a base salary, monthly safety and productivity bonuses and an annual loyalty bonus. The working week will be 42.5 hours.
A holiday scheme is included, starting initially at 22 days + Bank Holidays rising annually by 1 day to a max of 25 days. In addition to this, a generous pension scheme will be provided with a 4% employer contribution.
A fully racked vehicle equipped with fuel card, top quality tools, equipment, branded uniform and PPE will be supplied, with ongoing safety and technical training to ensure that you have everything you need to carry out a first-class installation.
You will be based in your local area and you will be working off the most up to date mobile phone/tablet to speed up the installation process.
