About The Role

You will be responsible for the ongoing development of SQL solutions and will own the management of our database infrastructure.  You will work in close collaboration with the wider data engineering team to build and maintain new ETL solutions in both on-premise MS SQL and Databricks. You will also assist in maintaining our legacy SSIS, C#  ETL pipelines helping to transition these to our new platform.

Responsibilities will include responding to service desk requests, investigating root cause analysis into faults, managing the release of changes and monitor key metrics to ensure high uptime of our systems. You will work with Data Engineers to advise on our operational needs and highlight opportunities for automation.  You will maintain our documentation for database systems and processes.

Our technology stack includes on-premises SQL Server (2012, 2017), AWS and Databricks.  This role will provide an opportunity to learn and develop in a modern Data Engineering environment.

About You
You will be passionate about making technology work reliably to enable business efficiency and effectiveness.  Maintaining servers and developing data solutions will come naturally to you. You will have an instinctive sense of how to deliver a high-quality service to our users.
You will have a solid background in SQL development and administration of Microsoft SQL servers but a keen interest to capitalise on all the benefits of the Cloud.
Good working knowledge of PowerShell or Bash is essential.  Exposure to Python and Spark or equivalent technologies will also be part of the role but support in this area will be provided. Experience with SSIS and C# to support our legacy services is a plus.
About Us

Ecotricity is the greenest energy company in Britain. In fact, when we started back in 1995, we were the first green electricity company in the world. Our mission was and remains to change the way energy is made and used – after introducing green electricity to the world, we introduced green gas to Britain in 2010 too.

Our model is unique: we use our customers’ energy bills to fund the building of new sources of green energy. We like to refer to this as turning ‘bills into mills’ – energy bills into energy mills, whether that’s wind, sun, sea or gasmills.

We’ve built over seventy wind and sun parks across Britain, we’re planning to build Britain’s first ever Green Gasmills, and through Britwind, our small wind company, we design, build and deliver small wind turbines to landowners and businesses throughout Britain and the world!

We don’t just focus on energy though – we built and run the Electric Highway, Britain’s leading network of electric car chargepoints, we helped Forest Green Rovers become the greenest football club in the world, and launched Britain’s greenest mobile phone service, Ecotalk.
