Sustainability Manager

We are looking for a Sustainability Manager to support the delivery of our 2022 sustainability plan and continue to weave sustainability in everything we do at Depop. This role is truly 360, involving close collaboration with a number of teams across the business (DEI,  Product, Legal, Seller, Office, Brand & Marketing), as well as external partners.

The Sustainability Manager will report into the Head of Sustainability.

Job description:

  • Responsible for the delivery of strategic and tactical programmes and initiatives in order to deliver against our 2022 sustainability plan, including collaborating across teams on their own plans
  • Lead the development and execution of existing and new initiatives to help us achieve climate neutrality
  • Lead the development of Depop’s minimum sustainability standards and due diligence process for prospective fashion brand partners
  • Lead the development of guidelines, tools and educational resources to encourage our buyers and sellers to be more sustainable, collaborating across teams and leveraging external partnerships
  • Support the design of our approach to sustainable procurement, acting as the specialist to vet and monitor the sustainability performance of our vendors, suppliers and partners
  • Serve as specialist to support our marketing and product teams to define when/how/where we talk about sustainability
  • Be solution oriented, agile and able to iterate when necessary in order to maximise Depop’s positive impact


  • You have at least 4-5 years experience in fields relating to sustainability and circular economy, impact valuation being a plus
  • You have experience in climate change mitigation, especially carbon accounting and science based targets
  • You know the fashion industry and have a deep understanding of its supply chain
  • You are highly organised, have extensive project management experience and have executed programmes involving a number of stakeholders from ideation to delivery
  • You are analytical and routinely use data and research to inform your work and create business cases
  • You are creative, unafraid to present new ideas and shake the status quo
  • You are able to translate technical sustainability concepts to non technical audiences, whether consumer or business
  • You communicate in a way that allows you to build trust and engagement at every level, internally and externally
  • You are passionate about making a positive difference and the circular economy
  • Experience working in a startup environment (a plus)
