Koa is a Ghanaian-Swiss Start-up, the first cocoa fruit processor in West-Africa (Ghana). By sustainable processing of the cocoa fruit to Koa Pure, (cocoa fruit juice), we increase the farmers income by 30% and reduce up to 40% food waste, while generating valuable jobs in the rural communities. We have a 250t production capacity with over 60 employees in Ghana and Switzerland.
In 2017, we discovered a unique approach to contribute to sustainable growth in rural West Africa. Our startup Koa was born from a sophisticated concept, innovative processes and a lot of passion. We make use of the pulp of the cocoa pods, thus, reducing food waste and enabling Ghanaian cocoa farmers to earn an additional income of 30%. Today, two teams in Ghana and Switzerland are committed to the growth of Koa to boost responsible value creation in the cocoa growing regions, to develop sustainable processes and to integrate them into rural structures. Our products inspire chefs, bartenders and the food industry in Switzerland and internationally. We now aim to establish Koa as the leading supplier of cocoa pulp products after having signed collaboration agreements with large chocolate and F&B players.
